One of the services that WESELPA offers is direct classroom support to teachers of special education students. This support is generally accessed through each districts' special education department, although teachers may call us directly. Each district has a Program Specialist assigned to it. This person can provide curriculum training, assist in developing general and specific student behavior support plans, assist with student placement, act as a liaison between classroom and home environments and provide educational resources and current research. In addition, Program Specialists may assist teachers in IEP development, inclusion strategies, disability awareness, transition services and any other supports to help a child stay successful in the classroom.
